Big Valley Rancheria
is a federally recognized Tribe whose tribal members are descendants of the Xa-Ben-Na-Po
Band of Pomo Indians and have historically inhabited the Clear Lake area for
over 11,800 years. We are world renound for our basket weaving skills and Tule
Boat (Shoo-nah) building. In 1994, we constructed the Konocti Vista Casino. We are currently one of the largest employers in the County. In 1999, we formed a Housing Authority with a mission to provide our members with safe, decent, sanitary and affordable housing. Our Master Plan envisions a new walled and gated community being built adjacent to our Community Center.
Our Rancheria has struggled and
fought for its mere existence for many years, our Master Plan will be the
catalyst to spark prosperity, economic self-sufficiency and self-esteem to
our Pomo people and many other local residents. Anthony Jack,
Tribal Administrator Lakeport, California
